Guidance Counselling at Coláiste Mhichíl


Guidance counsellors advise students and young people so that they can make informed choices about their future in relation to employment, education, and training. Responsibilities include assessing ability and potential in students, providing one-to-one counselling, and liaising with other professionals in this area.

Guidance and counselling in Ireland is made up of three separate yet interlinked areas. These are:

  • Personal and Social Guidance and Counselling
  • Educational Guidance and Counselling
  • Vocational Guidance and Counselling.

At Coláiste Mhichíl, we strive to meet the guidance and counselling needs of our students, whilst being mindful of the Edmund Rice spirit of our school. In school, our students have access to various college information and one-to-one sessions with the Guidance Counsellor.

Guidance Events

Each year, we participate in a variety of guidance events, in order to inform our students. These include:
